Following 2.7.1

A major release segues right into bug fixing for the first maintenance release.  You can follow what is being fixed for 2.7.1 here.  So far there are five small fixes.

  1. I hope they clear up the Gallery issues, it’s great to see they expanded that, so there’s no need for the Gallery-Plus plugin.

But there seems to be glitches when resizing thumbs and the use of Lightbox 🙁

  2. I’m loving 2.7 .. How many fixes will cause 2.7.1 to be released? Since one of them is installation related, I’m guessing this is going to be soon?

  3. I have great problems to edit my posts. With IE it’s now impossible. With Firefox I have problems to align the images with border and margin. In the edit window all is ok. But in the blog the image doesn’t take the tags and stands outside the text. This is a serious issue. The tag style=”float: left; is not set by the editor.

  4. I don’t think it’s a good behavior to leave bugs unfixed. Not only because the quality of a software should be worth it, or because ticket #8535 has been assigned to the 2.7.1 milestone already. Most important: don’t leave plugin authors behind. They are the people that use your blogging platform. Personally, I use WordPress for several reasons. The big number of available plugins is one of the major points for me. You cannot appreciate the volunteer work that these people do enough. So the least you can do is fix those bugs you introduce by ‘improving’ WP.

    my 2 cents

  5. So far, I am really happy with 2.7. I haven’t had any problems. I am still trying to get used to the new dashboard and admin area, but everything is working perfectly. I will download 2.7.1 when it is available.

Keep up the good work. Thanks.

  6. Can anyone point me to where to report an issue (bug) with 2.7. I’m assuming I’m in the wrong place here or am I?

  7. With the automatic update as part of 2.7 Core, even if you have an update every day, no one will ever complain 😀

Updating is as easy as a pie and the blog’s downtime is so minimal now!

(this of course, assuming the update feature is 100% bug free :D)
