Here’s the chicken coop we built. It’s about 10 feet wide, 5 feet deep, and 8 feet tall at the peak of the roof. Polycarbonate roofing panels cover the entire coop, and 1/2″ hardware cloth wraps the entire coop. The framing is 2x4s coated in cedar tinted weather sealer. Rough sawn cedar fence pickets act as siding for the hen house, and removable interior panels made of OSB provide insulation. The feeder is hung from the bottom of the hen house. Pine shavings provide a deep litter floor. A full size door allows walk-in access. The roosts are downed live oak branches collected from our property.
Was this at all influenced by the chicken article I sent you?
you mean you started this? 😀
Haha I don’t know! It was a New Yorker article I printed out and mailed to Ryan (I think) that reminded me of your ranch. If you haven’t read it I can send it to you, I think I have a scan someplace. Either that or I dreamed the whole thing.
Nice coup, it’s good inspiration for me to build our chickens a nice new abode.
